10 Best Designed Web Sites In The World

Posted by admin | Design | Sunday 28 September 2008 5:08 am

Those are some strong words and I don’t think I could even begin to narrow it down to just 10.

Ben Hunt from Web Design From Scratch has decided to list his picks.

What do you think? Certainly all very good, but THE BEST?

Here are a few sites - in no order - that are not only layed out well, but look great too:
Current Tv And just look at wired’s post on what they did with this past presidential debate. Another reason why I love that channel.

Kanye West - Love Lockdown - Flufftronix Edit

Posted by admin | Mp3, Music | Saturday 27 September 2008 2:18 am

If you haven’t heard Kanye’s new single ” Love Lockdown” then you’re probably living under a rock. He performed it as the finale at this years MTV VMAs. Even though I think that the whole vocoder and auto-tune crap needs to stop, this isn’t bad. Bloody pompous bastard is what he is, but he’s pretty good at what he does, so I guess he can be right? With the instrumentals and acapellas for the song everywhere, you can imagine how many remixes are floating around the interweb. Here’s an edit from Flufftronix that I’m liking:03-kanye_west-love_lockdown_flufftronix_edit
Apparently Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame(among many others) is a fan.
You can download/hear his version (with guitar) Right Here on Zshare.
Want to work on your own version?
Click Here to grab all stems of the song. Right from Kanye himself.

Preeminent Productions WILL GET YOU!

Not much of a story. From time to time, I like to gather random images and put them together.

The base is actually a picture of Oregon mountains and the sky, if you can believe that.

I also added some nice grungy backgrounds and splatters.

The zombieish looking guy was found by putting in “crazy eyes” into google image search. Not sure why he came up, but I liked it. Changed him quite a bit though.

Alex Pardee - Awful/Homesick

Posted by admin | Art | Sunday 21 September 2008 1:10 am

Alex Pardee is probably my favorite artist of ALL TIME. He’s just ridiculous.  I don’t know how he comes up with this stuff. It’s amazing. He’s been everywhere of late. With the help of UPPER PLAYGROUND, he has a new book available for purchase. It’s called Awful/Homesick and features his favorite work from ‘05 to Present. Seriously consider this one. You can get one at Upper Playground or ZeroFriends.

In related news, U.P. just opened a new store in Seattle.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip (Dan Stephens and David Meads) are from Stanford Le Hope, England.

They are most known for their single “Thou Shalt Always Kill” which can be seen below.

Shawn Christensen - Stellastarr - Karma Coalition

Posted by admin | Film, Music | Thursday 18 September 2008 11:16 pm

As if being singer of the awesome band Stellastarr wasn’t enough, Shawn Christensen is about to join Hollywood. Sort of. His screenplay entitled “Karma Coalition” has been picked up by Warner Brothers! He wrote this while working on the band’s HIGHLY ANTICIPATED third album.
The story centers on a falsely accused fugitive who embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind his wife’s death before the world comes to an end.

If you aren’t familiar with Stellastarr then get to it! Truly an amazing band. One of the best live shows I’ve been to.

I’m Obamafied! - imobamafied.com

I'm Obamafied

I

A repeat client and good friend of mine from Florida wanted a quick site thrown together. I have to say that this was the quickest I have ever done a site, and it was done in 100% CSS. I think this came out really good. Of course it could still use further “prettying” up, but overall I’m happy with it. He said he’s had the word “Obamafied” in his head for a while now, and thought we should try and sell some shirts. If nothing else, it is another portal to his other sites and services.  Visit IMOBAMAFIED.COM RIGHT HERE

RocknRolla - Guy Ritchie

RocknRolla

RocknRolla

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels= Genius
Snatch=Perfect
Swept Away=Not So Much
Well, it looks like vintage Ritchie is back with RocknRolla.
I usually try not to read early reviews on movies I’m really anticipating, but I did skim through Twitch’s review of it. From the parts I did read, sounds like this should be pretty good.
I’m super excited for this.

Google Chrome - Internet Explorer 8 - Browser Wars!

Browser Wars!

Browser Wars!

Ah man!, now another browser to worry about when building sites! Google has decided to jump into the war of browsers. Why not, they do everything else right? The reviews are all over the place. The Good, Middle of the Road, and The Bad. Microsoft seems to be finally waking up on being standards compliant with their new beta. (IE6 is a miserable browser to design for!) Houston Chronicle has a nice article up on this. I have yet to try either and probably will not rush to do so. I’m perfectly happy with Firefox 3. Although as these get more popular, I will have no choice but to design with these in mind as well.
